What is Vishing?
Vishing is a complex attack because it’s a live attack that isolates the customer in a call, the unknown caller uses manipulation and obfuscation to trick the customer in real time. They trick the customer into believing that they are calling from the bank and by the time the call is over, the customer has lost funds.
The challenges therefore are numerous, tackling this attack is by no means an easy feat. Solving this problem requires understanding the full dynamic of the attack.
Breaking down the attack
1. Unknown callers manipulate customers into believing the caller is from the bank
2. Customers have no means of verifying that the callers are indeed from the bank.
3. The customer is the correct customer.
4. The person whose identity is in question is the unknown caller.
